JEREMY CORBYN FULL STATEMENT ON ‘NO CONFIDENCE VOTE’

image

Jeremy corbyn issued the following statement, after 172 Labour MPs supported a motion of ‘No Confidence’ in his leadership.

“In the aftermath of last week’s referendum, our country faces major challenges. Risks to the economy and living standards are growing. The public is divided.

The government is in disarray. Ministers have made it clear they have no exit plan, but are determined to make working people pay with a new round of cuts and tax rises.

Labour has the responsibility to give a lead where the government will not. We need to bring people together, hold the government to account, oppose austerity and set out a path to exit that will protect jobs and incomes.

To do that we need to stand together. Since I was elected leader of our party nine months ago, we have repeatedly defeated the government over its attacks on living standards.

Last month, Labour become the largest party in the local elections. In Thursday’s referendum, a narrow majority voted to leave, but two thirds of Labour supporters backed our call for a remain vote.

I was democratically elected leader of our party for a new kind of politics by 60% of Labour members and supporters, and I will not betray them by resigning. Today’s vote by MPs has no constitutional legitimacy.

We are a democratic party, with a clear constitution. Our people need Labour party members, trade unionists and MPs to unite behind my leadership at a critical time for our country.”

  1. Jeremy Corbyn is without a doubt, the man to lead this Labour Party at this time, he may not be the middle class Labour MP’s choice but he is the choice of the rank and file members who democratically elected him. Those who have already resigned should have resigned sooner, they have betrayed their leader and party members, good riddance…a great opportunity to fill the void now exists…

  2. Time to go Mr Corbyn. You are, I’m afraid completely unelectable in a General Election in which over 30 million can cast a vote as opposed to 400,000 members of your party.

  6. Deeply distressed that the PLP are once again doffing their caps and doing their masters bidding, they want Mr Corbyn to go because he does not fit the description the manual gives of how a politician should look and behave, well good because surely we have all had enough of those Bas++Rds ;haven’t we?
Cameron was not elected leader because of his political savvy or,(and I am sorry to state the bloody obvious here),His intellect. No Dave was picked because of his ability to go into Winston Churchill mode at the drop of a hat, he was put there to look the part. Its all a PR game to to give us the plebs the illusion that we have a strong leader at the wheel who is listening to the people. And before I go. Oi Ben you might sneeringly talk about the £3 members but if you and your little chums get your way you may regret deriding
the people who pay your wages. l Everyone is entitled to a view and I respect that,my view is if anyone is killing what the real labour party should be it is you and your cronies,it is no bloody use to man nor beast if you can only win an election if you pretend to be torries.

  7. I grew up in Islington North and Jeremy Corbyn was a true Labour man of integrity then, just as he is today. I have never known a more caring, committed, principled, honourable MP in my lifetime. It is high time for a more humane, socialist brand of leadership and JC is unquestionably the right man for the job.

  10. I am utterly disgusted with the behavior of these MP’s and the ONLY good that will come out of this is it will show the people of this country who NEVER to vote for again, … EVER!!
If Jeremy Corbyn id forced out by any other means than a vote by the whole party membership then the whole party just as well pack up its belongings and leave through the back door because their credibility will be gone for two generations at the very least, I suspect longer.

There is yet another agenda at work here and I think most of us have seen clear through it. It has been professionally coordinated from the outside with men in suits sitting in dark rooms making deals with the control sitting in the shadows.

If Corbyn goes, so does my vote and that of almost everyone I’ve talked to. If Corbyn goes, the best thing he can do is form a new party, his support from the grass roots of the party will ensure his ultimate victory despite the maneuverings of the Blue Labour and Tory Light cloak and dagger brigade.

I would be as presumptive as to call on every single true Labour supporter who cares about freedom, and end to austerity, fairness and a true party of the people for the people, don’t let the Blair protectorate get their way. Stick with Jeremy and give him every ounce of support you can. From a very very concerned citizen.

  11. Keep going, we are behind you, I joined the Labour party, because of you. You are bringing the Labour party back to what it was in my parents day, who were also staunch Labour supporters. You having giving us the working class hope, hope that there can be a fairer society for all, not just those at the top. You do not cow-tail to those corporate puppet masters and we respect you for that. The simple fact that these blues disguised as red, the mainstream media and corporate bodies are so against you, should be enough for the man in the street to realize, they are afraid of you and what you represent to us the people, HOPE.

  12. Please don’t leave us JC. So many people are relying on you to stay strong. We want your new type of politics, we are sick of Murdoch’s Press, sick of governments making decisions on what big business wants, suck of bombing countries based on our oil requirements. The tide is turning, you can feel the buzz out there. I joined the Labour Party only when you were elected leader. Hold, hold your heart. Xxxx

  13. If called upon the rank and file will decide who leads OUR party not these careerist Blairites. They are more frightened of their gravy train being derailed than a General Election. We can achieve great things with Jeremy at the helm.

  14. Jeremy must visit and talk to those who frequent the Northern working men’s clubs. They are the people deserting the Labour party. They don’t trust Labour any more. These are the ex miners and steelworkers who feel they have no voice. Instead of addressing rallies, talk to people on the street and listen to their issues. Labour won’t win without them, the old core ex Labour voters.
