AMBER RUDD AND THE TALE OF THE TWO PETITIONS..

On 17th August a local Hastings resident and Labour party supporter Erica Smith started a petition to save her local NHS walk-in health centre. Which the local Clinical Commissioning Group are currently considering closing down and advising people to use their already over stretched local A&E.

The petition says ‘The Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) that provide healthcare in our area have been placed in ‘special financial measures’ – this means they have to find savings of £18m. One of the proposed cuts to save this money is to close the Walk-In Healthcare Centre at Station Plaza. This centre is used by many of the most vulnerable people in our town especially, but also by many others who can’t get on a GP list, because of the GP shortage in Hastings.

Ms Smith asked local MP and ex-Home secretary Amber Rudd to sign and support the petition.

But instead Amber Rudd ( who only has a majority of 346 votes) decided (without irony) to start her own petition to save the walk-in centre and to make matters worse, in order to sign her petition constituents must pay a fee of $3 (around £2.64).

Currently the original petition has over 1,600 signatures. Mrs Rudd’s has 99 signatures.

AMBER RUDD TELLS HASTINGS HOMELESS WILL HAVE TO DIE ‘TILL 2027’

AMBER RUDD TELLS HASTINGS HOMELESS WILL HAVE TO DIE ‘TILL 2027’

Over Christmas three homeless people died in Home secretary Amber Rudd’s parliamentary seat, Hastings corner confirmed today.

When Amber Rudd was asked by local paper The Hastings observer to comment on the deaths on the streets of her constituency. The government minister replied:”It is a tragedy when someone dies on the streets and this Government is taking action to make life on the streets a thing of the past.

For the UK as a whole, the Government is committed to halving rough sleeping by 2022 and eliminating it altogether by 2027.

So the growing homeless population of Hastings and Rye must wait another nine years before they can be sure of a roof over their heads.

How the government hope to even achieve this goal is beyond me.

130,000 children woke up homeless this Christmas as child homelessness reaches 10-year high.

The number of rough sleepers is up by 134% since the Tories came to power.

The number of homeless in the UK is only set to dramatically increase.

Analysis by Heriot-Watt University for Crisis has found that the number of homeless people in Britain will reach 575,000 in 2041, up from 236,000 in 2016. The number of people sleeping rough will more than quadruple from 9,100 in 2016 to 40,100 over the same period, the research found.

GEORGE OSBORNE GETS HIS REVENGE ON THERESA MAY IN HIS FIRST EDITORIAL FOR THE EVENING STANDARD 😅

#StrongAndStable #WeakAndWobbly

Today former Chancellor George Osborne started his new job as editor of The London Evening standard.

It is widely know that Mr Osborne had a major fall out with the current Prime Minister Theresa May over who would lead the Conservative party and be Prime Minister after David Cameron resigned over the Brexit vote.

Today was Osborne’s first chance to get his revenge on Theresa May and he didn’t hold back in his editorial.

‘There’s nothing wrong with repeating election campaign slogans; the problem comes when the election campaign amounts to no more than a slogan. If you ask for a blank cheque, don’t be surprised if later it bounces.’

We all look forward to tomorrow’s edition 😅
